Where it is, and how to get here
R. da Madeira runs parallel to São Bento station, in the historic centre. By train, you get off at São Bento station, right next door. By metro, São Bento station is a two-minute walk away.
On foot, it is a few minutes from Avenida dos Aliados or the Cathedral. By car, the street is narrow and the centre has restricted traffic: we recommend a car park nearby. See the map and contact details.
Before and after the fado
The Baixa is Porto’s walkable centre: São Bento, the Aliados and the Cathedral are a few minutes from each other, and the Ribeira is downhill.
The house opens at 16:00 and serves drinks from then on, with no booking, so you can arrive early, have a glass and stay for dinner, which starts at 19:00. The first fado show starts around 19:45, and the second at 22:00, for those who dine late.
Fado in the centre, every night
Being next to São Bento means you get here without much planning: after a day walking the city, the door is on your way. And since there is fado every night, Sunday included, you do not have to choose your night around the house.
